At Regex Validator (accessible from regexvalidator.com), your privacy is our primary engineering principle. We understand that developers frequently test regular expressions against sensitive strings, such as production server logs, API response payloads, user credentials, personally identifiable information (PII), and proprietary intellectual property.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
To guarantee absolute developer safety, we deliberately minimize data processing:
- We do not collect, inspect, or retain your regex patterns or test inputs.
- We do not require user registration, email addresses, or accounts to use the validator.
- We do not sell, rent, or monetize personal user information.
- We do not track user behavior across external websites or load cross-site ad networks.
3. Local Storage & Preferences
We utilize client-side localStorage exclusively to preserve your client preferences:
theme: Stores your preference for light or dark mode.
This key resides solely on your browser and can be cleared at any time via your browser's site data settings.
4. Shareable Links (Permalinks)
When you generate a shareable link in Regex Validator, the pattern and flags are serialized into the URL hash fragment (e.g. #base64...). Per HTTP standards, URL fragments are processed strictly client-side by your browser and are never transmitted in HTTP request headers to our web server.
5. Edge Infrastructure & Security Logs
Our website assets are distributed via global Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). CDN edge servers may record standard transient network logs (such as IP addresses, requested asset paths, and browser user agents) solely for DDoS mitigation, load balancing, and edge caching. These logs are automatically rotated and purged according to industry standards.
6. GDPR & CCPA / CPRA Compliance
Because our architecture is 100% client-side and requires no user accounts or behavioral tracking, Regex Validator naturally complies with the strict data minimization and privacy-by-design standards of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
